Membership The Committee has 15 members, deputies elected by universal suffrage for a four-year term (length of the legislature). They are nominated by their parliamentary groups to sit on the Committee, in proportion to the number of seats the party holds in the National Assembly.
Working methods The Committee examines matters over which it has jurisdiction. It prepares a report that it presents in plenary. The report contains the Committee's recommendations and conclusions.
Relations with other parliamentary bodies The Committee has only handled petitions from citizens who feel their rights have been flouted and therefore requested Parliament's aid.
Relations with external bodies The Committee on Laws, Administration and Human Rights has good relations with all of the Republic's institutions, with due regard for the powers conferred on the National Assembly by the Constitution of 11 December 1990.
Subjects dealt with The Committee on Laws, Administration and Human rights has working relations and exchanges information with the other standing committees of Benin's National Assembly. Constitution, laws, justice, petition, general and territorial administration, promotion and protection of democracy and human rights.
